What cookies are and why we use them
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, your browser sends that file back, so the site can recognise the device and remember what happened last time. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and local storage, work in much the same way, and where this policy says cookies we mean those technologies as well.
We do not use cookies to build a picture of your private life. We use them for a limited set of purposes connected to running a safe and working gambling site:
- Keeping you signed in, so you do not have to enter your details again on every page and your session closes properly when you log out or step away.
- Protecting your account and ours, by spotting unusual sign-in patterns, blocking automated attacks and supporting the identity and age checks we are required to carry out.
- Remembering your choices, such as your preferred language, your display settings and the options you have saved in your account.
- Understanding how the site is used, so we can see which pages load slowly, where players get stuck and which steps in the cashier cause difficulty.
- Measuring our own advertising, so we can tell which campaigns brought someone to the site and avoid repeating the same message to the same person.
Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by the providers we work with to deliver games, payments, live chat, fraud prevention and measurement on our behalf. Those providers may only use what they collect for the purposes we have agreed with them, and we ask them to keep it for no longer than they need it.
The types of cookies we use
We group cookies into four types. Apart from the strictly necessary ones, you can accept or refuse each group in the cookie notice on the site, and change your mind later.
| Type | What it is for | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Signing in, security, payments and the basic working of the site | No - the site cannot run without them |
| Performance and analytics | Counting visits and seeing which pages and steps cause problems | Yes |
| Functionality | Remembering settings and choices you have made | Yes |
| Marketing | Measuring our advertising and limiting how often it is shown | Yes |
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site working and keep your account safe. They hold your session while you move between pages, carry a deposit or withdrawal through the cashier, balance traffic across our servers and help us detect fraudulent or automated access. They also record whether you have answered the cookie notice, so we do not ask you again on every visit. Because the site cannot be provided without them, they are always on and are not subject to your consent.
Performance and analytics cookies
These tell us how the site is actually used. They count visits, record which pages were opened and in what order, show how long a page took to load and flag the screens where people most often abandon what they were doing - for example, a step in the sign-up form or a page in the cashier. The reporting we see is grouped together rather than presented person by person, and we use it to fix faults and simplify the parts of the site that cause trouble.
Functionality cookies
These remember the choices you have already made, so you do not have to make them again. They can hold your language and display preferences, the layout of the lobby, whether you have dismissed a notice, and the settings attached to your account, including the safer gambling controls shown in your account. If you refuse this group, the site will still work, but it will treat each visit as if it were your first.
Marketing cookies
These relate to our own advertising. They let us see whether someone who arrived from an advertisement went on to open an account, cap how many times the same message is shown, and avoid advertising to people who have asked us to stop or who have excluded themselves from gambling. We do not knowingly target advertising at anyone under 18, and we do not allow this group of cookies to be used to draw conclusions about your health or finances.
How to manage cookies
In the cookie notice on the site
The first time you visit, a cookie notice appears. You can accept all optional cookies, refuse them all, or open the settings panel and choose group by group. Refusing is as easy as accepting. Your choice is saved and applied straight away, and you can reopen the settings panel from the footer of any page at any time to change it. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything that was collected while your consent was in place.
In your browser
Your browser gives you a further layer of control, which applies to every site you visit rather than just ours. In the privacy or security part of your browser settings you can normally:
- See the cookies currently stored and delete some or all of them.
- Block cookies set by other organisations while allowing those set by the site you are on.
- Block all cookies, or ask to be warned before one is set.
- Clear cookies automatically each time you close the browser.
- Browse in a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when the window is closed.
The exact wording differs between browsers and devices, and the help section built into your browser sets out the steps for the version you are using. Mobile devices also offer their own advertising controls in the system settings. Please remember that these controls apply to one browser on one device, so you will need to repeat them if you use a phone, a tablet and a computer.
What happens if you block cookies
Blocking optional cookies is your right and we will not restrict your account because of it. Blocking strictly necessary cookies is different, because the site relies on them to work at all.
- You may be unable to sign in, or you may be signed out as soon as you move to another page.
- Deposits, withdrawals and the verification steps in the cashier may fail part-way through.
- Games may not open, save their state correctly or return you to the lobby.
- Settings and preferences will be forgotten between visits, so you will need to set them again each time.
- Our security checks may treat your device as unrecognised more often, which can lead to extra checks on your account.
Safer gambling tools rely on cookies too
Deposit limits, loss limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion are held against your account and remain in force whatever your cookie settings, but clearing cookies can make it harder for the site to show them to you correctly. If you are worried about your gambling, support is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline, and GamStop lets you exclude yourself from licensed online gambling sites in Great Britain. Our site is for over-18s only.
Changes to this policy and how to reach us
We look over this policy from time to time and update it when we add or retire a cookie, change a provider or change the way the cookie notice works. The date at the foot of this page shows when it was last changed, and where a change materially affects you we will say so on the site or in your account.
If you have a question about the cookies we set, want help changing your settings, or would like to know more about how we handle your personal information, write to us at support@casinocasperspins.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Our team can also pass a data protection query to the right people internally. Please include the browser and device you are using, as that often explains what you are seeing.
This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions. Where those documents explain how we collect and keep personal information, this one explains only the part played by cookies.
